“Families First” Mobile Pantry is HHFB’s mobile food pantry and the agency’s main direct-service program. Families First is designed to provide nutritional foods to under-served regions and areas of concentrated need in our service area. The mobile pantry program first began in the Spring of 2008 with a grant from Charity Projects Entertainment Fund. It began with two sites in Lawrence County. Since 2008, Families First Mobile Pantry received grants and funding to start up two new locations to disburse food in southern Indiana. The Families First mobile pantry is currently serving over 1,000 households each month in Lawrence, Martin, and Orange counties. A mobile food pantry service is offered, free of charge, at four sites each month. These Mobile Pantries have been supported by the Lawrence County Community Foundation, Martin County Community Foundation, Orleans Community Foundation and the Walmart Foundation.
