The 40th Annual Community Book Fair, a benefit for Hoosier Hills Food Bank, will take place October 17th through 22nd at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. This year’s book fair will fill two buildings with over 100,000 books, DVDs, CDs, LPs, games, puzzles and other items at affordable prices to support the food bank’s work. There will be a large selection of children’s books and collectible “Better Books,” which will also include a selection of vintage vinyl LPs.
The Book Fair will feature more than twice the usual number of music CDs, food trucks, Chocolate Moose ice cream for purchase, Veteran’s services information, limited free t-shirts on Friday the 13th, and a Curious George Day partnership with Constellation Stage & Screen to promote their community access tickets program and October/November show, “Curious George: The Golden Meatball.”
We accept gently used books, CDs, DVDs, records, games and puzzles at the Hoosier Hills Food Bank Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m (2333 W. Industrial Park Dr). We do not accept donations October 1st-31st. For more information, please call (812) 334-8374 or e-mail Ryan at volunteer@hhfoodbank.org.
We are honored to be the home of this beloved community event. For more than 30 years, we’ve promoted a message of sustainability – that too much food is wasted and should instead be channeled to people at risk of hunger. In many ways, the same is true of used books. We can’t afford to be a throwaway society – not with food, not with books and certainly not with people.
